"Thankful Prayers"
A new pastor, eager to make sure the church's employees would like
him, called them together shortly before Thanksgiving Day approached and
told them that each of them would receive a turkey, "In fact,"
he added, "as long as I'm around, you will always have a
turkey."
I'm not giving out any turkeys for Thanksgiving but I do want you to
know that as long as I'm around I will, with thankfulness, remember you
in my prayers. I would like to echo the works of the Apostle Paul
in Philippians 1:3-6, 9-11:
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers
for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in
the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that
he who began a work in you will carry it on to completion until the day
of Christ Jesus.
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in
knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what
is best and my be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled
with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ - to the
glory and praise of God.
May this month be one of blessing and thanksgiving in Christ Jesus!
