Zion United Methodist Church was founded in 1843 as the Zion United Brethren in Christ Church. Though our name has changed over the years, our reason for existing remains the same: to know the Lord Jesus Christ and to make Him known in our community and world. We have made the following commitments to God and one another and with the Lord's help; we strive to live them out each day:
1. We accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and give Him first place in our lives. Our first allegiance is to Jesus, following Him with love and integrity, and serving Him with devotion.
"If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

2. We accept the Holy Bible as God's inspired word for our lives. We not only treasure the Bible, we study it and teach from it. We choose to accept its truths, trust its promises, and are guided by the values and judgments the Living God has placed in it.
"Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105

3. Our faith relationship with Jesus Christ is personal, but never private. For us, to be Christians is to be a part of God's family. We are committed to faithfully caring for and encouraging one another, as brother and sister Christians, in our Christian walk and service.
"As we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. " Galatians 6:10

4. We believe God has given his family members talents, resources, and abilities to be used to benefit and bless the church and community we want to serve and win for Christ. We are committed to investing and using our God-given gifts in service and ministry that will honor our Savior and be a blessing to others.
"God gives a great variety of gifts for us to use for the common good."  I Corinthians 12:7
